Acqualagna is a small town at the foot of the beautiful Furlo Gorge renowned as the capital of the “All year-round fresh truffle”, a true international hub for the production and trade of the truffle. At harvest times of the different varieties of truffles, in Acqualagna there are three major exhibitions: the National White Truffle Fair (late October-November), the Black Truffle Regional Fair (last Sunday of February), the Regional Summer Black Truffle Fair (August 14 and 15), which annually attract gourmets and fans from all over Italy and Europe. For those who comes here outside of the fair period, you can always enjoy the precious fungus Tuber in one of the many restaurants where you will find it served in imaginative and delicious variations. After leaving the culinary part, Acqualagna unveils its beautiful scenery with the gorgeous “canyons” with iridescent colors, crossed by the river Candigliano, accessible through a narrow and ancient tunnel, wanted by Emperor Vespasian in 76 AD, to open the gate to the Via Flaminia. The area falls under the State Natural Reserve, a very important flora and fauna area. Other attractions are represented from the Romanesque Abbey of San Vincenzo with a very suggestive crypt, from the Sanctuaryof Madonna del Pelingo and from the Annunziata Church, an ancient building from the Romanesque-Gothic period with ogival arcades, inside decorated with frescoes of the fourteenth century.
