The Church of San Pio V in Cattolica is the church of the city’s patron, Pope Pius V, a native of the town of Cattolica and Pope in the sixteenth century. The church was built by Pope Pius IX between 1858 and 1870. This church, with neoclassical structure, was designed by the architect Tondini and was modified between the 40s and 50s, starting from the façade. Afterwards was renovated with a restoration in year 2000. To year 1951 goes back the construction of the bell tower. The current interiors were modified in year 1940 by Fortunato Teodorani who changed the previous decorations dated back to 1928. Inside the Church of San Pio V is an interesting nineteenth-century painting depicting the Pope at prayer.
