Square 1° Maggio in Cattolica is one of the landmarks of the city. This beautiful square was called up to the 40s also Square of the Sirens because of its magnificent fountain, built in 1928 by Giuseppe Canalini of Forli, where three sirens wrapped in a languid draping hold the cup from which flow the water games. But this is only the center of the square, all around, after the restoration of 1992, was created a pedestrian walkway, adorned with flower beds and an elegant rooftop garden as well as other gushing fountains. From Square 1° Maggio, located at the intersection of a streets and alleys grid, once traveled by fishermen to reach the port, overlooks the nearby Kursaal Square, from where you can walk through the seafront Promenade of Cattolica until the Harbor. Subject of the street furniture renewal to enhance the beach areas, the Promenade of Cattolica offers the opportunity for a relaxing walk, ideal for a restful bike ride, with benches, flower beds and fountains to decorate all the way. To liven up the sides of the Promenade there are restaurants and beach bars, shops and everything that comes together to create a pleasant atmosphere or to entertain even after sunbathing or just enjoying the closeness of the sea even in different seasons. The natural progression of the Promenade becomes Viale Carducci and right here, at the juncture between the waterfront and the city streets, there are several excellent restaurants of Cattolica, such as Locanda Leiuzzi on Via Fiume and Restaurant Vicolo Santa Lucia on Viale Carducci. On Viale Carducci is also one of the most luxurious and historic hotels of Cattolica, the Hotel Carducci precisely, with its sumptuous interiors and gardens of Arab inspiration which hosts exclusive parties and receptions.
