The Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio of Fano is on the Piazzetta Cleofilo and what it affects is the late sixteenth sober façade. In this period the Church of much older origin was restored and modified. Of the pre-existing building has been preserved the picturesque fourteenth-century fresco, in the middle of the chancel wall, where a Crucifixion is depicted. It is surrounded and dominated by the lavish stucco made by the plasterer Giuseppe Mazza of Bologna in 1710. On the back of the Church used to meet the Confraternity of Santa Maria del Suffragio that, in 1618, obtained the use of the church. Among its brothers stood out Domenico Egidio Rossi (1669-1715) the famous architect author of several interventions in Austria, Germany and Bohemia. On the altars it can still be seen precious paintings of Muziano, Geminiani, Guerreri and Bartolomeo Giangolini of Fano. The Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio has been deconsecrated and is now used for exhibitions, concerts and conferences.
