The XX September Square of Fano is the ancient and modern heart of the city, it is the ancient medieval audience hall in which overlooks the impressive fourteenth century Podesta Palace, that offers the elegant facade to the beautiful Fortune Theater, with its the recent Civic Tower.
On the side that flanks Corso Matteotti, there is one the symbols of Fano, the Fortune Fountain, which stands on the wide and mixtilinear basin characterized by its colored marbles; it has been completely renovated between 1697 and 99 by the Venetian Ludovico Torresini.
The graceful bronze statue of the Fortune Goddess is a faithful copy of the original preserved in the Civic Museum. With its elegant and baroque façade, made of bricks and sandstones, on this beautiful square there is also the sixteenth-century San Silvestro Church. In this square, ancient market place, we still find many little shops that enliven the bustle of people you meet here every day for work and for pleasure, or simply to enjoy the beauty of this lovely city.
