Fano today is among the most famous seaside resorts on the Adriatic coast, with its beautiful beaches that are interrupted only by the presence of the fascinating harbor area full of small and delicious restaurants, where the sea becomes a delight for the palate and where to enjoy a peaceful time, observing the activities of fishermen and chatting with the locals, always friendly and welcoming. Fano, a little younger than Rimini, boasts an ancient history, it has Roman origins: the Via Flaminia was built around 218 BC joining the sea. The strategic importance of Fano was also confirmed during the Middle Ages, in fact during the Malatesta domain Fano was adorned with smart buildings still visible, as the Court and the Malatesta Palace and even the Romanesque Cathedral of Magister Rainerius and the fourteenth-century Podesta Palace. With the annexation of the city in the Urbino Duchy, Fano knows a new moment of splendor that still shows the dazzling beauty in its new San Paterniano Abbey, in the Church and Convent of Santa Maria Nuova, in which the precious altar pieces made by Giovanni Santi and Perugino are housed, the Conservatory and the Church of San Michele. In modern times Fano continues to act as a culture city and it is attentive to their people, through the work of philanthropists such as the  Abbot Domenico Federici, the founder of the Federiciana Library and the Fortune Theatre. The city thrives on its constant beauty even today, in its well known kindness and gentleness. Beautiful also the immediate vicinity of Fano, where stands the Monte Giove Monastery, a place of prayer and meditation.
